ReplyDeleteLovely gloves!!
ReplyDeleteI found your yo yo crochet book in Hobby Lobby on Monday and I'm now hooked. Thanks for such a great looking book and nifty patterns. I had been looking for something easy to get back into crocheting, but didn't want to do the same old tired granny squares, so this will be perfect. Now if only my boyfriend will stop telling me I'm like his mother when I do crafty stuff... :D
thanks for letting me know it is at hobby lobby I had not seen it in real life in a store other than the local yarn and knit shop. I have a hobby lobby with in 3 mins of my home ran straight over and took a picture just made my day. If you have any questions feel free to ask happy to help if you get stuck on something
ReplyDeleteYay! Warm fuzzies! I'm thinking I might get a copy of your book for my mom, too, she has been crocheting baby blankets for my sibling's babies. However, there's going to be four this year, and I think she's got a backlog. I suppose I should help her out!
ReplyDeleteWhen did you go to BYU? I was there 94-99.
Only question I have at the moment is what do you think of using variegated yarn colors for the patterns? I remember there's a pattern in your book that recommends a variegated yarn.
I tried last night with some rainbow yarn I had on hand, but since they're not true circles, the pattern the colors made was kind of distracting. The yarn was lots of different colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Is there a maximum amount of color/variation that will look better?
In the meantime, I'll save that yarn and use it as a border to the finished product.
I was at the Y from fall 1992 through summer of 1995. I pretty much lived in the HFAC and B66 buildings on campus not really but that is how it felt. If I wasn't there I was at Campus Craft and Floral as a florist on campus. the only ones that used a variegated yarn are ones where the yarn has a very quick change in the variegate. If it is a long change I do not recommend it. doesn't matter how many colors what matters is the length of the color change. you can see some examples in this set on flickr
