A snake!!!! Sort of?
About two or three weeks ago we had a tiny garter snake in our yard.
We were all excited to see him, he was only seventeen inches long. I showed all the kids; they thought it was just great. He had made a little home for himself under our porch.
We didn't mind because he was little, and because he is a helpful snake.
Today we where moving our step that goes to our porch so we could fill in the spot with dirt (we call it the pit). In the process of doing this, we discovered that he had shed his skin. That is what is in the picture to the right.
It gave us a teaching moment with our children. I thought it was interesting, and some other little children might like to see it, especially little boys, so here it is. For more information on this type of snake go to wikipedia.
