Beaded earrings and hair sticks

Did a gift exchange at work this last week.I made hair sticks and earrings.  I thought more of my co-workers had pierced ears than did.  So yep I need to make more hair sticks.  So you either got two hair sticks or a set of earrings below are the ones I made for that day.

I also made earrings for some of my co-workers.  Simple ready
Supplies
  1. French wire earring set or 2 hair sticks buy at any real craft store
  2. 5 ...size 6 seed beads per earring
  3. 1 jump ring per earring or stick
  4. 1 finding wire to hold beads per earring
  5. 1 lucite flower per earring or stick
thats is and a few mins time and some beading tools.

Just some costume work

I work in a costume shop on a collage campus while I am also attending that collage to get a BFA in costume design.  Just thought it would be fun for you all to see some of the costumes we have made in the shop.

English paper piecing

So China, my oldest daughter has started to teach herself English paper piecing. using the popular tutorial on this blog.  She had seen me do this for years but wanted to do it too.  So she grabbed a box of fabrics I already had cut and prepped for a quilt. She is using my thread and my supplies of paper pieces yep she has it easy to learn how all the time to prep was already done for her but she still has to do all the stitching and figuring out of the placement and pattern she wants to use.   So far so good.  She will have to cut some supplies in time if she wants to make this a big quit.  She will also have to order some hex pieces but for now she is enjoying the ease of English paper piecing.  Plus congratulations to her for finishing her first semester at collage... So much fun to go to collage with one of my own kids.

Christmas trees

We have not set up a real big Christmas tree in years due to downsizing in homes but not possessions.  This year we got to set up two tree my kids are so excited to do this.  Both these trees are at my sister in laws house.  Which is where we will be spending this Christmas.

The first one to go up my children decorated with items their great grandmother made years ago before her passing. This was an eclectic tree but full of so much love and joy for my children.  My children had fun going through the kissing balls and putting them on the tree. Kissing balls which is what my grandmother called these ornaments.  They were originally meant to hang in doorways with mistletoe on them so those passing underneath would have to kiss.
The second tree is the one my sister in law sets up upstairs.  It is a lovely tree full of gold and red more in keeping with how I like to decorate trees.  It usually takes them a week to set up Christmas but with three teens supper excited to decorate a tree took only a few hours.
