JOB WANTED Help please

So things have happened recently in our lives that require me to find a job. If any of my readers know of something I can do from home I would be so grateful. I love being a full time Mom but I am not sure that is possible any more.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

  1. I wish you lived in my area! I could always use a bit of help here and there assembling my patterns and at some of the quilt shows I do! Just from my observation - by the way - you seem to have a real talent with your camera and with tutorials and such. Maybe those talents can be used to create something to produce income at home. Your photography skills or skills with some type of photo editing program look great and I just glanced at the tutorials quickly. Just an idea! I'm sorry to here you are having to find a job. It's not easy trying to stay at home yet needing to pay the bills. I feel for us all, especially with the economy and all right now. I'll be sending good thoughts your way! Tara

  2. For some income each month I suggest putting adsense ads on your website. You can block any that you don't want showing and they are themed so they relate to the content of your website.

You have such amazing info here that you deserve a little income from it.

  3. You are so talented and prolific with your crafting, I don't know why you aren't already connected with a craft manufacturer as a test driver of patterns and materials.

I'm thinking of getting a job as an assistant at my kids' school, maybe you could do something like that? It's not at home, but your hours and vacations would be the same as your children.

Good luck! This is rough, but I know you'll get through it.

  4. There is a big cloth diapering movement, maybe you could knit/crochet soakers. Check out Mommacommune.com and ask around on their forums to see where the best sites to sell them on would be.

I do have adsence. You must have an add blocker if you can't see them. Thank you for the idea.

i have tried my kids schools no job opening that I am able to fill. They all have to have two years experience either in teaching science or library science. Neither of which I have if only it was an art class or home ec teacher I could do those with out thinking. As for the tester I would love to be one. If you know where to apply let me know I would happily do that.

    I will look into that

thank you all who have left messages so far

  6. What about private sewing or knitting or crochet classes? Or setting up a group session at a local library. You probably have to pay the library a small fee to use their community room, but if you charge enough for the classes you can still make a profit.

This is especially good if you can give classes after 6:00 or on weekends since most classes offered take place during the workday when lots of people who might attend them can't get there.

Check out the "gigs" section on craigslist.com for your area. There are often things you can do from home posted there.

  7. A neighbor of mine has worked for this company in the past and said it's legit. I also saw them listed on wahm.com as legit. You answer phone calls for people ordering ginsu knives and stuff. You have some online training so you'll be able to answer questions and place orders....then you just log in and they start sending the calls to you. If you can put in a few hours each night after the kiddos go to bed, it might be just the thing.....

  8. Is there any school subject you are particularly good at? Like high school math. I use to tutor high school kids in math. They come to your home.

  9. I see, I missed them, sorry :P

Maybe if you put one on your template so they show underneath the comments link you might get more hits on them.

At the advice of the adsense people I moved mine closer to the text on each page and it made a big difference.

  10. What about designing web advertising pages for some Mom and Pop stores in your area?

Yahoo has some templates to try (I'm just not sure WHERE on yahoo - try doing a search on templates). I know that they have a 30 day trial period.

Maybe some of the little stores in your area would be willing to give it at try. You could ask for a small startup fee and then a percentage of web profits.

Maybe make up a couple of templates and take them around? I know a lot of people are not computer savvy and might need your services.

Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

Oh, and I found a contest you might enter - come and check my blog for details if you are interested ( 'cause I can't remember the details at this moment... um... having a senior moment here).

  11. Hi, Sunshine. I have read stories of women making patterns for magazines. One issue had mary Ayres in it, another issue had a beading lady in it. I think if you can hook into one of the magazines like Create and Decorate and then into one of the companies that makes craft supplies, you can design patterns and items from home. I wish I had a personal friend to send your way, but i don't. Do NOT give up. You are a fantastic designer, and I think you could sell patterns to teh wool/thread companies and even design things for scrapbookin/multimedia audience.
