Spinning class...and how to clean a fleece
As you are aware if you follow this blog I am learning to spin wool. The first week we learned drop spindle, and homework was to spin all the roving we were given as part of our class fee, We had two types of wool for assignment one shorter haired than the other. OK I was the only one that actual spun all of both rovings I was given. I never understand why people pay good money for a class then do not do the homework. So I will go through the steps I did to make the lovley carded wool you see above.

Oberon's crown... for Andrea
A few years back I made a crown for Oberon in the production of " A mid Summer nights Dream". One of our family friends is now doing that production and wanted a similar hat so this is the hat I made for her yesterday and delivered this morning.

learning to spin
I took my first class out of a series of 6 or 8 weeks can not remember at the moment. We worked with drop spindles last night I have a long way to go before I do something that looks like nice wool yarn to me. But this class was not about making pretty yarn but about the technique involved with the spinning of the spindle, drafting of the roving , and washing of the wool fleece. Wish me luck!

Yellow Sweater
I finished the yellow sweater or should I say it finished itself for me. Meaning I ran out of the yellow cotton I was using. I would have liked it to be about six to eight inches longer and the sleeves about 4 inches longer but that is how it goes. I think it will be nice in winter over a colored t-shirt to not have it be so open at the neck area plus it will be a nice color contrast there. Just enough warmth for fall with out a coat and in winter with a coat.
