Part 2: Butterfly Curtain/400th post prize

Here are butterflies 2 and 3 on my daughter's curtain; 14 more to go on this curtain, seventeen more on the next curtain. I have had six emails on this; to answer the questions, yes these are all hand embroidered.

  4. Hello Miss Sunshine! I must comment on the curtains -- saw the pix over at MJFarms -- just amazing embroidery. Be sure to post a picture of the finished product -- I can't wait to see that many butterflies dancing on the curtains! Your daughter will love it.

  7. I love the butterflies! They are so pretty. I'm sure P is going to love her room when it is all done, especially since it is all her own. :) One of these days I'm going to learn how to embroider...

  15. I was wondering, what's your favourite method for transferring embroidery designs to your fabric for stitching?

    I use an iron on pencil but sometimes you get a line that isn't covered completely and the kind of pencil I use doesn't wash off so I'm stuck with it.

  16. I tend to use a red fine tip permanent marker when doing red work. A normal pencil most other times. I am not fond of the wash out markers they are not always wash out so sometimes you think it is ok to have a line showing because it will wash out then it doesn't and then your stuck with an ugly line. With pencil I know I have to cover the line. With red ink (permanant ink) I know if a little shows from my red work no one will know but me.

    i love the adorable butterflies!! We are doing my daughter's new room in butterflies whenever we get into the new house(keeping my fingers crossed it is soon!!!)   20. stitches being used are simple basic stitches that are easy and fast to work.
    1. Stem stitch / outline stitch
    2. satin stitch
    3. colonial knot differnt than a french knot bigger
