This apron of GGH's won't be posted till day 24. But I was working on this today, so here is another sneak peek of an apron to come. The original was in lavender gingham. But, since I was reproducing all of the aprons, I wanted mine to be useful to me and be in Halloween colors. The rick rack I used was given to me over two years ago from Aunt George on the Mary Jane's Farm forum. It is antique rick rack and very cool to use. I didn't use true gingham, the gingham pattern is printed on the fabric. I am so glad I didn't use this for the smocking of chicken scratch because it would have caused me grief when making those aprons as it did a little making this one. The fabric is some I purchased last year after Halloween to use in my yoyo quilt, but there is still plenty of it left to do that and have this apron. Funny thing, the pocket was made in multiple pieces of fabric on the original, so I did the same. Not sure why it was that way.

I really love this apron - you did a great job on this project!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO SWEET! I think it would be fun to add the "X's" in embroidery floss, not smocking, just little contrasting "X's" in a pattern on it. :D
