Since it is such a beautiful piece, I would be inclined to leave it as-is, holes and all, and make a frame/shadow-box to display it as a wall hanging. The embroidery is magnificent, and the overall effect is very beautiful, but since the fabric has sustained such damage, I would be disinclined to try to transform it into another item for regular use... it may not stand up to the wear and tear...jonniegottasinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06227568953643705055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30700435.post-75146542000685182742010-01-23T20:50:24.746-07:002010-01-23T20:50:24.746-07:00Are you still up to darning the rest of the holes?...Are you still up to darning the rest of the holes? If you are how about turning it into a cardigan? You could very carefully cut it down the middle and then add some of the beautiful crochet that you do for an edging. This would solve the tight neck problem. Just a thought.Janicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12465050441931715127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30700435.post-27745385568878904702010-01-23T12:59:47.910-07:002010-01-23T12:59:47.910-07:00http://www.karaca.com.tr/

If the holes really show then I guess "Felt Away!. I just blogged yesterday at http://www.clasheenuncut.wordpress.com/ about upcycling my friend's jumper that shrunk by mistake in the washing machine and I am THRILLED with the result. You say that your top is wool (and the embroidery looks like wool too) so it should shrink very well in the machine if you put it in a couple of times at 60 degrees. The only slight problem might be that the embroidered areas might shrink a little differently but all the holes should almost disappear and you could line the bag anyway with some gorgeous hot red fabric. The sleeves could then be used for arm warmers or how about making a small purse to match the bag? Would love to see what you come up with but I say take the leap and felt away!Clasheenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12045789589732451150noreply@blogger.com
